B2 - Vantage or Upper Intermediate

(180 Hours, 12 weeks)

German Language B2 level designs for the learners who took a continued program or modules from A1 to B1 and passed the A1 – B1 Assessment Test administered by GLA Centers. The classes are intensive and delivered in German. Students are expected to participate actively in order to develop their communicative skills. The advanced knowledge in German language is presented in real life situations. There are brief analyses of the new structures followed by controlled and free practice exercises to facilitate learning and acquisition. Special emphasis is given to the use of authentic materials from the Internet and from the other resource materials for independent learning. The course is integrated with Pflege to prepare the nurses for the medical terms and vocabularies, and will be introduce to the culture and practice of the job specification and work environment.

The students attend individual assessment where the teacher provides guidance and feedback on their learning process. Upon completion of the course and in accordance with the CEFR description of B2, students should be able to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. The learners interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers. Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

The learners are qualified to pursue the next level as they have a continuous training in reading and writing in German Language. The basic skills in communicating in German language is an evidence to proceed in B2 level. The progress of the learners development will be monitored and they able to apply the previous knowledge from the beginning of the course/module. In this level, the learners must have to spend more time and conduct regular study habits to master the basic German knowledge. Through the other collaborative learning activities, the learners will be able to improve German knowledge in advance level and demonstrate an advanced knowledge of German for employment purposes. The B2 level is an evidence that the learners can attend a preparatory course (Studienkolleg) to qualify for admission to university in Germany and prepare to work in the medical sector. The learners must be certified as candidates that are independent users of the German language and corresponds to the fourth level (B2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).- (Ref. Goethe Institute)To prove that the respondents have successfully reached level B2. The B2 Certification test will be administered by the accredited Testing Center and be issued with an official and internationally recognized certificate.

Writing (Schreiben)

  • Knowledge and skills to comment on a newspaper report or short online article and correct a letter.
  • Trained and has an ability to write personal, formal/ informal emails and letters and write an online forum post in which you express your opinion.
  • Trained to write an application letters and Curriculum Vitae.
  • Ability to write messages, complains and suggestion letters related to the everyday environment.
  • Develop an ability to write about themselves, can spell German words correctly, familiarity with the German Alphabets and Umlauts, formulate simple sentences, responding a simple note through emails, text messages, invitations, formal and informal letters.

Speaking (Sprechen)

  • Able to introduce themselves to conversation partner, give views on a current issue and enter into a discussion with their conversation partner.
  • Able to talk and response spontaneously about an everyday topic, such as travelling. During this conversation, Learners will be required to respond to questions, express opinion and make suggestions
  • Can give a presentation about an everyday topic and answer questions about it.
  • Ability to pose and answer questions in conversations about yourself, converse about your own life and make agreements or negotiate with your conversation partner.
  • Engage in group discussions and activities to develop communication skills, make contact in normal conversation or “small talks”, can demonstrate self-introduction using German Polite expressions and Greetings and able to speak with gesture, confidence, fluent and effective style. Giving command and request and able to respond with gesture. Formulate W-Fragen and Entscheidungsfragen and able to give answer or respond with information. Can give directions and follow simple instructions.

Listening (Hören)

  • Listen to discussions and telephone conversations, correct or complete what you have heard and categorize statements.
  • Required to listen to an interview on a current social topic and complete exercises on it.
  • Extracts from radio programs in German.
  • Selected clips from TV series and films.
  • Lectures and talks about general topics
  • Unscripted authentic speech when speakers are interviewed in a studio and in the street.
  • Develop the skills to listen an announcements, short presentations, informal conversations and discussions on the radio and pick out key statements and important details.
  • Ability to listen to everyday conversations, announcements and interviews on the radio, messages on the telephone and public announcements and complete exercises about what they have heard.
  • Able to understand the context of the given information or situation. Can solve simple problem and find solutions. Can interpret the delivered messages through listening or hearing. Follows and understand announcement, News, etc.

Reading (Lesen)

  • Read a number of different texts, such as advertisements, catalogue entries, excerpts from reference books, commentaries, reviews and reports, and complete exercises on these texts.
  • They will be required to fill in the missing words in a written text and Articles about current affairs, Opinion articles and extracts from easy no-adapted novels
  • Ability to read blog entries, emails, newspaper articles, advertisements and written instructions and pick out key points of information and important details as well as points of view and opinions.
  • Read the basic German words and sentences. Can read and comprehend to the text, topics, notes, letters and stories. Can read formal and in-formal letters and able to plan, write and interpret the idea of the content / context of the given message. Knowing new vocabularies are essentials to learn the language in a short period of time.
