A2 - Waystage or Elementary

(120 Hours, 8 weeks)

In this level, the learners must have a basic German knowledge. It is ideal for the learners to understand and use sentences and common expressions in everyday situations, make self-understood in simple, routine situations demanding an exchange of information on familiar and common topics and describe their background and education, immediate surroundings and other matters associated with immediate needs in a simple way. Focusing on contextualized exercises, learn more vocabularies and grammar with content they can use in everyday situation that will focus on the grammar they need in order to speak. It requires elementary language skills and corresponds to the second level (A2) on the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

This course is a continued program of the students training in reading and writing in German language. The learners progress in the basic communication skills will be monitored and will be able to apply the previous knowledge from A1. The students will spend more time in activities given and other collaborative learning activities and will be able to acquired knowledge in Advance German Language.

Learning Objectives:

The students will be able to present the following:

Writing (Schreiben)

  • Ability to write messages related to your everyday environment.
  • Develop an ability to write about themselves, can spell German words correctly, familiarity with the German alphabets and umlauts, formulate simple sentences, responding a simple note through emails, text messages ,invitations, formal and informal letters.

Speaking (Sprechen)

  • Ability to pose and answer questions in conversations about yourself, converse about your own life and make agreements or negotiate with your conversation partner.
  • Engage in group discussions and activities to develop communication skills, make contact in normal conversation or “small talks”, can demonstrate self-introduction using German polite expressions and greetings and able to speak with gesture, confidence, fluent and effective style. Giving command and request and able to respond with gesture. Formulate W-Fragen and Entscheidungsfragen and able to give answer or respond with information. Can give directions and follow simple instructions.

Listening (Hören)

  • Ability to listen to everyday conversations, announcements and interviews on the radio, messages on the telephone and public announcements and complete exercises about what they have heard.
  • Able to understand the context of the given information or situation. Can solve simple problem and find solutions. Can interpret the delivered messages through listening or hearing. Follows and understand announcement, news, etc.

Reading (Lesen)

  • Ability to read texts such as short newspaper articles, emails, advertisements and public announcement boards and then complete exercises about what you have read.
  • Read the basic German words and sentences. Can read and comprehend to the text, topics, notes, letters and stories. Can read formal and in-formal letters and able to plan, write and interpret the idea of the content / context of the given message. Knowing new vocabularies are essentials to learn the language in a short period of time.
